Safeguarding

Promoting a Safer Church

Our Aim - To provide a safe and caring environment for all our activities, where children and adults with care and support needs feel valued and of individual worth.

We seek to safeguard children and adults with care and support needs in all activities at FBC. We expect everyone working in these activities to prevent the neglect or physical, sexual and emotional abuse of the children and young people and adults with care and support needs.

We endeavour to implement all policies and procedures in a consistent and equitable manner and to keep up to date with national developments.

Planning your Visit

Hello!

If you're new to church don't worry, so were most of us at some point! If you're thinking about coming along on a Sunday here are some basic bits and pieces you might find helpful.

Dress code - we don't have one! Just come in what you're comfortable in - God's much more interested in what's going on inside you than what you look like outside!

Singing - yes, we sing songs of worship and songs to encourage each other. Some of the songs are traditional but many have a contemporary feel to them. Usually our music team of keyboards, guitar's, flutes and drums lead the singing. If you don't know the songs, or aren't really a 'singer' that's OK - you don't have to join in!

Children - we love
children and they are always welcome. Sunday mornings start at 10:00am with 'The Lighthouse' especially for children. Check out the 'Children and Youth' page for more info. Children then come and join their parents  during the main service - which we try to make it accessible for them, though for younger one's you may want to bring something to help them. For the very youngest (0-6) we run and supervised creche during the service.

Bible teaching - this is a key part of what we do on Sundays. Each week our minister explains a part of the Bible and helps us see how it applies to our lives the rest of the week. Our Bible teaching times are massively important to us because we believe that the Bible is God's word and the primary way he speaks to us - so we unashamedly make time to read and study it each week.

How long? The Sunday morning service is a maximum of 1hr 15 min (apart from when it includes communion - then it often lasts a bit longer).

Parking - we have a large car park at the chapel

Accessibility - our whole building is fully accessible, with a lift for those who need help to get to the first floor. We operate a loop system for hearing impaired.
